Slađana Lazarević, M.Arch. and PhD student at Faculty of Architecture, has eight years of experience in the field of urban planning, sustainable transport and energy efficient architecture with an international experience knowledge acquired by participating in the different research projects as the technical expert and the team leader.
Prior to her appointment with UNDP she had covered several very demanding position, working as the technical expert and the researcher. Also, she has very extensive management experience that enriched her professional knowledge and helped her to develop the skills to ensure the financial sustainability of the projects and programme activities. Moreover, during her professional carrier she was directly involved in the planning of the necessary changes in the use of energy through the preparation of the pilot demonstrative projects and guidelines for energy efficiency improvement at the urban scale which were used in the developing of the Mediterranean Building Energy Efficiency Strategy (MEDBEES). Her tasks were also related to the setting of the institutional and policy conditions for improving energy efficiency and energy savings for the public facilities by establishing the first Montenegrin energy management system for the Municipality of Bar and developing Program for Energy Efficiency Improvement.
She is currently working on the project Towards Carbon Neutral Tourism in Montenegro, as project coordinator for spatial planning and energy efficient architecture. As national contact point for European Mobility Week, the European initiative for which UNDP is National Coordinator, she is managing different activities related with sustainable urban mobility. Her main contribution within this position is affirmation of Montenegro as low carbon tourism destination by involving Montenegro at EuroVelo8 map and working on development and implementation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Boka Bay and Cetinje.
Slađana is one of the holders of the licence for the scientific-research work in Centre for Sustainable Development, programme jointly implementing by Government of Montenegro and UNDP. She is working on fundraising for projects related with energy efficiency and has been actively involved in the preparation of the first monography of national importance to the office of UNDP in the field of the sustainable urban mobility, as well as research papers presented at the international level, striving to build the bridge between the science and the policy with the obtained results.
