Cycling Tourism in Podgorica-development of bike corridors and promotion

Despite the almost ideal conditions for the development of cycling as an alternative mode of transport, the transition from motorized to non-motorized transport in Podgorica is only at the beginning. Nevertheless, the opening of the first bicycle route in 2015 has shown great interest in both the inhabitants of the capital city and its visitors for this type of transport. In this way, healthy lifestyles are promoted and further protected by the environment.
The project envisages the construction of bicycle paths - corridors 2 and 5 (about 12km), development of a tourist map with marked bicycle corridors, development of a platform for a cycling / cyclotourism site and organization of events in order to promote cycling and healthy lifestyles.
- Reduced energy consumption from fossil fuels in the capital city using the energy efficiency principle;
- A major and significant change in the urban transport system by introducing cyclone transport;
- Improving the accessibility of historical and cultural sites that are located along the alignment routes;
- Improving interactions among citizens and developing awareness of an inclusive participatory model for environmental protection;
- Established cooperation and improved quality of knowledge, experience and practice exchange among local environmental officials;
- Enhanced public awareness of the benefits and significance of sustainable and responsible development
