Žabljak is a tourist center in the north of Montenegro. Because of all its characteristics, the tourist season on Žabljak lasts for a whole year, and the winter and summer tourism are equally developed. Tourism is of great importance for the development of the city. In this regard, a project for modernization of public lighting was launched, with the aim of reducing the cost of electricity and environmental protection. As part of a town wide effort, the Žabljak has replaced approximately 406 existing street light fixtures with energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures. Over time the full LED street light conversion initiative will save money, decrease CO2 emissions of up to 147,6t per year.
By modernizing lighting, first of all it will increase the average illumination, increase the safety of traffic participants, apply ecologically acceptable sources of light, eliminate light pollution, and thus increase the quality of life of citizens in the municipality.
